I choose Philips only because it can play DVD from all region. The sound quality is not so great. Every time I switch off and switch on the system I have to pair up my rear speakers. Initially I had difficulty in pairing up my rear speakers. I contacted Philips customer service and it was horrible. The person has no clue on the features of the system or about the wireless receiver for the rear speakers. The Philips customer service representative concluded in 5 minutes after collecting all my personal information that the system is defective and they can send me a new system :-) Eventually after 24 hrs of playing with it I decided to return it to Buy.com. They provided me with a prepaid return label. Now awaiting for the refund. I will not recommend Philips to anyone who want to buy a home theater system. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Decent Compact Home Theater System By Adam E. Dart This home theater system is actually pretty decent for what you're paying. I'll go through a quick summary of what it comes with just in case anyone has any questions about it. Out of box, you get: 1 blue-ray/dvd/mp3/central module 1 front-left speaker 1 front-right speaker 1 front-center speaker 2 rear tower speakers 1 remote control 1 iPod dock 1 HDMI cable 1 wireless tranceiver/transmitter for rear speakers Wires to set up the entire thing. What I really liked was that the player/central module has space for two (2) additional front/side speakers. Of course, the entire system is set up so that you would have to get Phillips speakers that are compatible with the system, but that's really not such a big problem. The module also has a USB port on it, for smaller mp3 players and the such; Very convenient. The sub-woofer is actually quite nice. It throws out some great bass Overall, the system is more geared for general music playing than it is for watching movies. While watching movies, the rear speakers tend to only play "surround" sounds. It's possible that I had some strange setting on while testing it, but don't expect it to sound like a premium BOSE system; It simply won't. It's almost there, but not quite. Still a great system, with easy-to-use functions, and sleek styling. I would recommend this to anyone who has a smaller area that they want to put a theater system into. A bedroom (that's where mine is) or smaller finished basement would be perfect with this. If you want extra sound, I would recommend getting the extra front-side speakers.
